About BEE
Who are we?
Our Story...in the BEEginning with Dar Draper, founder
of BEE Creative & Co.
Once upon a time there was a little girl who didn’t
think she was good at ANYTHING! She felt kind of sorry for
herself, looking at all the talents of those around her, WISHING
she could be "good" at something! Through her life
she did excel in one thing, though she didn't think it was
a very big deal. She really liked people...all kinds...and
tried to do things for them to make them feel good. She made
cards, homemade gifts, and even wrote little stories and plays
for them. As she grew and grew, her passion for people and
creating "expressions" of love for them grew and
developed too...Until one day, it all made sense...She had
been created to BEE Creative and to use her creative gifts
and talents to bless and encourage others! She experienced
such joy as she realized that she didn't have to strive to
be good at something...she just had to "be" who
she was, and love people through her God-given gifts and talents!
She just knew this was to be her life's work...loving and
being...and helping others see the value in loving and "being"
who they were created to be too. And so here we are together...so
let us begin...
Meet our Staff & Creative Partners…
DAR
DRAPER…is the founder and Creative Director of BEE Creative
& Co. She has had a passion for writing plays and "directing"
since childhood, but received her formal education at Appalachian
State University where she received a degree in Theatre Education
K-12. Dar loves working with PEOPLE small and tall, and loves
the way theatre brings people and all art forms together!
She is also a published children's author, and writes many
of BEE Creative's scripts and plays. This will be her 5th
year of teaching drama classes through BEE Creative at the
Old Courthouse Theatre.
JAMES SHAFER…is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a
degree in Theatre. He developed a passion for acting in high
school, and went on to act in many community and professional
theatres in this area, including NarroWay Productions, Theatre
Charlotte and the Old Courthouse Theatre. James loves every
aspect of theatre, but states that acting is his truest passion.
He most recently directed the very successful summer production
of "Tom Jones" at the Old Courthouse Theatre.
James is a young man of faith and fervor, and we are refreshed
by his creative style. He will be teaching our high school
Acting Studio Class this fall, and we are excited for our
students to experience his fresh and intense approach to this
art form.
WHITNEY MACMANAMY…is currently in college, majoring
in music, yet involved in all things creative! Besides her
film, theatre and musical recording experience, Whitney is
an experienced dancer and teacher who has traveled across
the nation with various dance teams, teaching children and
young people the joy of dance. (She has also been a FAVORITE
guest artist at BEE Creative's Summer Camps for the past two
years!)
Whitney's dynamic manner will captivate and inspire your
children in the art of dance through our new Creative Dance
Expressions classes. This is not your typical "ballet" or
"tap" class, but one your child will be sure to enjoy as they
get to choreograph and creatively express themselves through
dance. We are pleased, blessed and thankful to have Whitney
on our team!
PATTY CAULDER…with "Heavenly Sound" is a new creative
partner with BEE Creative this year! Patty has 27 years of
experience playing the guitar in group settings, and has been
teaching guitar classes for many of those years.
She is a truly caring and devoted teacher who has a unique
method of teaching guitar in a small class environment. Please
feel free to call Patty for more information about her classes
at (704) 279-9177. Her classes will begin the week of August
20th. We are happy to be hosting Patty and her program this
year!
